Banned Books Week

Every year, books are challenged for their right to be placed on the library shelf.  Some are outright banned.

To focus awareness on this issue, Banned Book Week was created.  This is the twenty-eighth year for this event, held annually during the last week of September.  This year’s event runs from September 25 through October 2.

The Quillians are pleased to announce that they will be participating in the American Library Association’s Second Life ReadOut!  On October 2, 2010 at 4pm ET (1pm PT/SLT), Second Life residents can listen to excerpts from various banned or challenged books, as read by special guests.  The Quillians will be represented by authors Michael A. Stackpole and Steven Saus, as well as Quillian founder, Michael J. Hercus.

If you would be interested in becoming a reader for this event, please contact Oberon Octagon in Second Life.  Time is an issue, so please send your request as soon as possible.

The Second Life event will be held in-world in the ALA sim.
